A few years ago, a close friend looked at me and said, "You are so good at giving gifts. You should open a gift shop."
I laughed it off. But I never forgot it.
The thing is, she wasn't wrong. Giving gifts has always come naturally to me — not because I spend the most money, but because I actually think about it. I think about the person, the moment, what would make them feel seen. That part has always felt easy to me.
Opening a physical shop, though? That felt anything but easy. My life is full in the best and most demanding ways. I'm a wife. I'm a mom to two kids who keep me very busy. And I'm a caretaker for my grandmother. A storefront just wasn't realistic — at least not right now.
But a curated online gift shop? That I could do.
So I built MAISON Tiny — a place where I do the research, the curation, and the overthinking, so you don't have to. Whether you're shopping weeks ahead or scrambling the night before, I want you to be able to find something thoughtful, something real, something that says I was thinking of you.
So Why "Maison Tiny"?
The name is very much a reflection of who we are. Tiny is my nickname — given to me by my husband, family, and close friends. Not because I'm particularly small, but because my husband is a full foot taller than me, and standing next to him, I look it. The name stuck, and I've grown to love it.
Maison is the French word for "house" or "home." I have a PhD in French, and our household is full of francophiles. We're also rooted in New Orleans — a city with deep French history, a love of celebration, and a culture that knows how to make people feel special. It felt like the perfect home for this brand.
What's Next
MAISON Tiny is growing. Eventually, I'd love to launch MAISON Tiny Nola — a local New Orleans extension of the brand offering same-day wrapped and delivered gifts for those moments when life sneaks up on you. Forgot you have a birthday party tonight? Need a hostess gift in two hours? Tiny's got you.
